{"id":6406,"date":"2014-01-28T08:58:00","date_gmt":"2014-01-28T08:58:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/odf-syria.org\/?p=6406"},"modified":"2025-09-05T12:17:25","modified_gmt":"2025-09-05T12:17:25","slug":"ribal-al-assad-welcomes-uk-decision-to-offer-refuge-to-syrian-refugees","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/odf-syria.org\/el\/ribal-al-assad-welcomes-uk-decision-to-offer-refuge-to-syrian-refugees\/","title":{"rendered":"Ribal Al-Assad welcomes UK decision to offer refuge to Syrian refugees"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>UNHCR welcomes UK\u2019s decision to offer refuge to Syrian refugees<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>UN Refugee Agency<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>28 JANUARY, 2014<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following the UK government\u2019s announcement on offering refuge to Syrian refugees, UNHCR&#8217;s Representative to the UK, Roland Schilling, said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe welcome the announcement of the UK government to provide refuge to some of the most vulnerable Syrian refugees, in cooperation with UNHCR.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This decision will help to provide much needed solutions for vulnerable Syrian refugees many of whom have been deeply traumatized and face immense hardship. It is also a concrete and important gesture of solidarity and burden sharing with the countries neighbouring Syria as they continue to bear the brunt of the refugee crisis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today\u2019s decision is an encouraging and important step, reaffirming the UK\u2019s commitment and contribution to international relief efforts in support of more than 2.3 million Syrian refugees and the countries hosting them.
