David Cameron: ‘We need a solution to Syria crisis’<\/p>\n\n\n\n

David Cameron said Britain should use “all of its diplomatic muscle” to help persuade Russia and others supporting the Assad government to back peace talks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, speaking during Prime Minister\u2019s Questions, Mr Cameron excluded the possibility of Britain having any role in military action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI accept that Britain can’t be part, and won’t be part, of any military action on that front but we must not in any degree give up our utter revulsion at the chemical weapons attacks that we have seen and we must press this point in every forum that we are a member,” Mr Cameron said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He added: \u201cI won’t be bringing back plans for British participation in military action.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Welcoming the initiative, Director of the ODFS, Ribal Al-Assad, said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI am pleased that in light of last week\u2019s Commons vote on Syria the British Prime Minister, David Cameron, has revised his position with regards to military intervention in Syria and is now committed to a diplomatic solution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This is good news for Syria, Britain must now do all it can to persuade other countries to come together to pursue a peaceful -dialogue driven- course of action. Military intervention is not the solution for Syria and I am pleased that every day more and more people realise this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I applaud David Cameron\u2019s position and hope that other international leaders will follow suit.\u201d<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
