If we are serious about those ideals, we must speak honestly about the deeper causes of this crisis.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mr. Obama called the amateur video crude and disgusting, but said it did not justify the spilling of any innocent blood \u2014 including U.S. Ambassador to Libya Chris Stevens, who was killed in an attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The U.S. president also renewed calls for an end to the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIn Syria, the future must not belong to a dictator who massacres his people. If there is a cause that cries out for protest in the world today, it is a regime that tortures children and shoots rockets at apartment buildings.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>MOSCOW, September 26 (RIA Novosti)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Putin urges crackdown on extremism<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Russian President Vladimir Putin urged tough resistance to religious extremism in Syria, Libya and other countries, but also called for respecting people\u2019s religious sentiments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe consider it necessary to increase joint efforts to counter terrorist threats and extremism wherever it may be \u2013 in Libya, Iraq, Yemen, Syria, Egypt, Afghanistan,\u201d he said during a meeting with foreign ambassadors. \u201cDouble standards do not belong here.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He added: &#8220;Terrorists need to be given a hard and unanimous rebuff, but only while respecting the cultural values and religious feelings of the people.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Putin also seemed to hoist Russia as an example of multi-ethnic and multi-religious harmony, saying that Russian history \u201cshows no alternative than to preserve civil peace and harmony in society.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Commenting on the story, Ribal Al-Assad, Director of the ODFS, said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;I welcome the comments made by President Obama and President Putin. I absolutely agree that it is imperative that global leaders speak out forcefully against violence and extremism and that the world can only make progress by pursuing tolerance and freedom.
