Ribal Al-Assad, Director of the ODFS, this week met once again with Mr Tunne Kelam MEP, Member of the European Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He was a leading campaigner against communism and helped to lead Estonia to independence and freedom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They had a comprehensive discussion about ending the ongoing situation in Syria and the developments since their last meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The meeting was a part of a series of meetings that Ribal had with senior members of the European Parliament from across the political spectrum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I was delighted to meet Mr. Kelam again, in our meeting I stressed the need for the E.U. to put it’s full weight behind a peaceful solution to the crisis in Syria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00c8 imperativo che l'UE, insieme alla comunit\u00e0 internazionale, si unisca per aiutare la Siria a liberarsi degli islamisti che non condividono i nostri valori universali e non desiderano la democrazia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00c8 evidente da tempo che cercano solo di sostituire una dittatura con una teocrazia, il loro obiettivo assoluto \u00e8 avere uno stato di califfato islamico sotto la legge della Sharia e questo non si pu\u00f2 permettere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Questi estremisti hanno invocato la jihad contro chiunque non condivida la loro ideologia perversa e hanno ucciso e commesso molti massacri contro civili di tutte le religioni, sette e gruppi etnici.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
L'UE e la comunit\u00e0 internazionale non devono permettere che la Siria \u2013 con il suo bellissimo mosaico \u2013 diventi vittima della violenza settaria e dell'ideologia perversa degli islamisti.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Come ho detto molte volte, l'unico modo per raggiungere una pace duratura in Siria \u00e8 perseguire una soluzione pacifica e diplomatica che includa tutti coloro che hanno una genuina fede nella libert\u00e0 e nella democrazia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00c8 imperativo che la comunit\u00e0 internazionale, compresa l'UE, applichi tutto il suo peso a sostegno di questo obiettivo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
