Ribal Al-Assad discusses the prospects of democratic development in Syria with the UK Conservative’s Foreign Affairs Spokesman in the European Parliament

Ribal Al-Assad, the Director of the ODFS, had a meeting with UK Conservative MEP Dr Charles Tannock, the Foreign Affairs and Human Rights Spokesman for the UK Conservative delegation in the European Parliament. They had a comprehensive discussion on the prospects of democratic reform in Syria and the wider issues faced by the Middle East.

Dr Tannock is also a full member of the European Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee and the Human Rights Subcommittee, and Spokesman for the European Conservatives and Reformist Group.

Commenting on the meeting, Ribal, said:

“I was delighted and honoured to meet with Dr Tannock again. We had an excellent discussion on the prospects of democratic reform in Syria and the need for the UK and the EU to hold the regime to account for its suppression of basic human rights such as freedom of expression and association. I look forward to working with him on these issues in the future.”
