Ribal Al-Assad, the Director of the ODFS, has welcomed the Syrian regime’s signing of a protocol permitting the deployment of Arab League observers tasked with monitoring the implementation of the Arab League’s Peace plan to end the violence in Syria.

Ribal said:

‘This is a welcome and necessary step, which will hopefully lead to the end of the violence and killings. I again call upon the Syrian regime to end the repression and to engage in a broad and meaningful dialogue with opposition groups who genuinely believe in democracy and peaceful transition. The regime must move towards peaceful transitional democratic reform. I commend the Arab League for its intervention and peace plan. Its role is critical to ending the violence and bringing reform in Syria.”
