In April, ODFS Director Ribal Al-Assad, met with Bulgarian Member of the European Parliament, Antonyia Parvanova in Brussels. They had a wide ranging discussion about the issues facing Syria and the Middle East. Antonyia Parvanova is a member of the European Parliament’s Mashreq Delegation, which visited Damascus this week. Dr Parvanova is Vice-President of the Alliance of the Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE).

Ribal Al-Assad said, “I was honoured and privileged to meet Antonyia Parvanova. We had an excellent discussion about bringing democracy, freedom and human rights to Syria. I look forward to working with Dr Parvanova and the Mashreq Delegation to promote in Syria the values on which the European Union is founded, namely the principles of liberty, democracy, respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms, and the rule of law.”
